Cleft Caves Adventure
Idaho is filled with underground adventure opportunities. This trip is designed to provide an introduction to the fun and required safety aspects of exploring local caves. The program will be exploring a traverse fault cave in the basalt lava flows of the Snake River area outside of Mountain Home, Idaho. The Outdoor Program staff will provide instruction on basic caving techniques and will lead the group through the 90-minute underground adventure. The trip is open to both novice and experienced cavers.

Mount Borah Mountaineering
Spend the weekend with the Outdoor Program on the rooftop of Idaho. Borah Peak is Idaho's state highpoint, at 12,662'. Mount Borah's remote and stunning peak offers a breathtaking alpine setting with incredible views of the Lost River Range and the state. This trip will be a 2 night and 3 day adventure. We will be leaving campus on Friday afternoon and returning on Sunday evening. If you have ever wanted to attempt a high mountain peak this is the trip for you. This trip includes transportation, leadership, equipment, and stunning views.

Introduction to Outdoor Climbing
Evening outdoor climbing sessions are designed to provide new climbers and those new to the area with a tour of our local climbing sites. The Outdoor Program staff will take care of the logistics and rope set up so the participants can focus solely on climbing and having a good time. All climbers will need to have passed a climbing gym belay check prior to participation. You can choose to sign up for only one or both sessions.

Introduction to Lead Climbing
For those who crave outdoor climbing, Idaho's premier basalt crags offers a desert environment with some spectacular climbs in it. Massacre Rocks is a great site to for climbers to stretch their limits and learn how lead climb outside of the gym. Additionally, the area offers amazing hiking opportunities. All climbers need to have passed a climbing gym belay check prior to participation.

Advanced Climbing - City of Rocks
Yes! The best place in Idaho and one of the best places in the world for climbing, the City of Rocks National Reserve boasts amazing granite cracks and face climbs. This trip is for strong climbers who are looking to advance their skills and get out and enjoy the City! We will camp at the City, and take short hikes to crags with climbs for all abilities. All climbers need to have passed a climbing gym belay check prior to participation.

Craters of the Moon Caving and Backpacking
Idaho is home to several of the nation's greatest national monuments and Craters of the Moon won't disappoint you. This monument is located in Southeastern Idaho and is home to several vast ocean lava tubes that are just waiting to erupt again! Full Moon Night Hike
Come explore the foothills in a whole new light, the MOONLIGHT! Join us as we explore the foothills under a full moon. We will hike up into the foothills and look down upon the glowing city of Boise. We will get above the city to check stars and admire some constellations you can't see from the city.

Ghost Town Backpack
Come explore one of the oldest towns in Idaho. Silver City, once one of the biggest mining towns in the state and was home to about 2,500 is now one of the coolest old ghost towns Idaho has to offer. The trip will explore the town, as well as the surrounding hikes that the area has to offer. We will spend two days learning and exploring what once made this old ghost town so fantastic.

Little City of Rocks Backpacking
While the City of Rocks is a great place to explore, you may not know that just outside of Gooding, Idaho there is a miniature version of the city known as the Little City of Rocks. There is a main valley trail that offers easy hiking with lots of side trails to go and explore that offers a more challenging adventure. So join us as we explore these Moad like rock spirals and archways!

Sawtooth Backpacking Adventure

Swan Falls Day Hike
Swan Falls, in addition to being a beautiful area with enormous boulders and rock formations, is a great place to explore. Some of the coves around Swan Falls have been determined to be the prehistoric home of Native Americans whose artwork is still around to inspire the imagination. Join the Outdoor Program as we take a hike through the desert in search of amazing views, wildlife, and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of Boise.

Women's Yoga Backpacking
The Yoga Backpacking Trip will take participants up into the breathtaking Frank Church Wilderness for a weekend of relaxing yoga and hiking. The trip route will cover a round trip distance of approximately 8 miles with multiple opportunities for extended day hikes to lakes and vistas. Each day, multiple guided yoga sessions will be facilitated by our instructors. This program is a co-operative offering between the Outdoor and Fitness Programs.

Bogus Basin Mountain Biking
Boise has some of the greatest mountain biking that the state has to offer. Bogus Basin, the local ski area, offers some great trails for beginners and experts. Come spend the day with us as we explore the trails that Bogus has to offer. The trails we will ride will be mostly for beginners; however, there is room to explore more challenging trails towards the end of the day.

Wilderness First Aid
This 24-hour seminar is being taught by the Wilderness Medicine Training Center (WMTC) and will certify the participants in the internationally recognized Wilderness First Aid curriculum. Whether you're a professional guide, parent, hunter, or weekend warrior the information presented in this seminar could prove invaluable if either you or someone you are with is injured in the outdoors. This special program is open to the community and will be taught at the City of Boise Foothills Learning Center. The course will be taught with an emphasis on hands on practical skill application (ratio of 40% classroom and 60% outside scenarios.

Birds of Prey Canoe Overnight
Whether you are looking for an easy canoe trip or you're hankering to spot some magnificent birds of prey, this is one trip you won't want to miss. Located just southwest of Boise, this segment of the Snake River starts just below Swan Falls Dam and ends at Celebration Park. This trip goes through the northern portion of the Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area.

Black Butte Canoe Overnight - CANCELLED
We will spend one night camping on the river as we float from Black Butte to Swan Falls Dam. This stretch is suitable for canoeing and is a great place to check out the natural history and beauty associated with the Snake River. Additionally, the raptors in this area include everything from golden eagles, kestrels, and northern harriers. We will float downstream and enjoy the spring as we watch the birds soar through the canyon walls above us.

Introduction to Kayaking - CANCELLED
Introduction to Kayaking is a 4-day seminar that offers students an opportunity to explore the basic techniques of kayaking in a positive and progressive learning environment. This seminar will take place both in the Boise State University Pool and on the river. In the pool we will learn the history, equipment, stroke techniques for proper boat control and the Eskimo roll. The river trips will focus on river reading, eddy turns, ferries, basic principles of river safety and lots of fun. All equipment and transportation will be provided by the Outdoor Program.

Payette Inflatable Kayaking
Come experience Idaho's rivers from a new perspective. Inflatable kayaking offers a new and different twist to kayaking. We will spend the day learning some basic kayaking maneuvers such as eddy turns and learning to read basic whitewater. Idaho has some of the greatest whitewater in the country and inflatable kayaking is a fantastic way to experience it!
