Sawtooth Mountain Film Festival
Take the first step...

On March 7 & 8, 2008, Boise State University's Outdoor Program will be hosting another fantastic selection of international and local films. The selected films will highlight the spirit of adventure that is driving the cutting edge of adventure sports. 2008 will mark our ninth annual Sawtooth Mountain Film Festival. The annual sell out event is designed to both promote the Outdoor Program's services and Idaho's bountiful recreational resources.

Boise, Idaho is a progressive, healthy lifestyle community with excellent access to 4-season recreation sites. The film festival is designed to expose the community to a wide variety of adventure sports. The multi-sport format draws a broad demographic of outdoor enthusiasts and typically spans ages from eight to eighty. The event unites the climbing, biking, skiing, boarding, and kayaking communities by bringing everyone together to celebrate the outdoors and to share the enthusiasm and passion we all feel when we are doing what we love.

This year we have also added a daytime rail jam event to complement the films and bring out more participants. We will be bringing the mountain down to the university with 5 semi-trucks filled with snow. The rails, jumps, and party atmosphere are expected to bring out 75 competitors and about 2,000 spectators.

The independent film festival was designed and developed to generate funding for the Boise State University - Student Outdoor Leadership Development Program. The net proceeds from the event are used to provide quarterly expedition based leadership training opportunities for about 25 student candidates per year. Graduates from the program give back to the university and Boise community by cumulatively teaching about 150 educational and/or technical skill programs per year. Former students from the program have gone on to influence and shape the outdoor industry as field instructor, guides, educators, and owners of recreational businesses.
