Intramural Sport Jobs

  • Intramural Official

    WAGE RATE:  $7.50 per hour
    SUPERVISOR:  Coordinator, Intramural Sports
    JOB FUNCTION:  Responsible for officiating league and tournament games
    HOURS:  5 – 15 hours per week

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Officiate a variety of intramural sports including basketball, flag football, soccer, volleyball and assist with other sports/events as needed.
    2. Act as a main point of contact for over 2,000 individual participants.
    3. Ensure participation safety by having a strong knowledge of rules, policies and procedures as well as proper field set up and game management.
    4. Provide exceptional customer service to participants by having strong communication while also interacting with players in a respectful, cooperative manner.
    5. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude throughout games.
    6. Properly respond to emergencies by following the department’s Emergency Action Procedures.
    7. Assist with promotion of intramural sports/events through tabling and other marketing strategies.
    8. Assist with other duties as assigned (may result in help with other departments within Campus Recreation).

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Be able to work in an active and fast-paced environment.
    2. Possess a passion for working with people.
    3. Must have excellent communication skills, while being able to work with a wide variety of personalities.
    4. Open to constructive feedback while keeping a positive and upbeat attitude.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Enrolled in 6 or more credits per semester.
    2. Adult First Aid/CPR with AED*.
      1. *Campus Recreation provides this training to all employees at no charge.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Officiating experience (preferred, not required).
    2. Able to work on weekends and week day nights.
    3. Basic knowledge of sport rules.


  • Intramural Supervisor

    WAGE RATE:  $9.00-10:50/hr.
    SUPERVISOR:  Coordinator, Intramural Sports
    JOB FUNCTION:  Responsible for the daily operation of intramural sports/events
    HOURS:  5 – 20 hours per week

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Responsible for the daily operations intramural sports/events at the game sites by providing guidance and leadership to student officials and participants.

    1. Ensure participation safety by properly enforcing rules, policies and procedures as well as proper field set up and game management for over 1,500 games a year.
    2. Act as a main point of contact for over 2,000 individual participants.
    3. Develop, train, teach and evaluate a student staff of 20-25 officials by leading staff trainings, giving feedback throughout games and completing yearly staff evaluations.
    4. Provide exceptional customer service to participants by having strong communication while also interacting with players in a respectful, cooperative manner.
    5. Adequately track and submit participation statistics by checking in 4,400 yearly participants.
    6. Properly submit all game scores, incident/accident reports, forfeit and employee performance reports.
    7. Properly respond and take lead on emergencies by following the department’s Emergence Action Procedures.
    8. Assist with promotion of intramural sports/events through tabling and other marketing strategies.
    9. Assist with other duties as assigned (may result in help with other departments within Campus Recreation).
