FITNESS ATTENDANT

 Job Summary:

The Fitness Attendant is responsible for providing a welcoming environment for all Rec patrons, ensuring a positive workout experience through safe and effective fitness guidance and instruction. This includes providing guidance on fitness equipment and goal-specific exercises, as well as anything regarding current Fitness programming. The Fitness Attendant reports to the Coordinator of Fitness, as well as the Graduate Assist

Qualifications:

  • Must hold & maintain CPR/AED & First Aid certification within 45 days of hire
  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Boise State University

After Hire:

  • Must develop a strong knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and kinesiology after
  • Must develop a knowledge in exercise programming and design as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation
  • Must create a full understanding of proper use of all fitness equipment and machines

 Experience and Abilities:

  • Sincere interest in helping to foster a welcoming environment to Rec Center members, as well as assisting Rec Center members in finding a successful exercise experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper resistance and cardiovascular training techniques
  • Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring clients’ needs are met and by handling any complaints/concerns quickly and effectively
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism including proper attire, personal hygiene, and a positive attitude
  • Promote positive behaviors that value health, physical ability, and life-long wellness
  • Enforce all facility/program policies, rules, and regulations
  • Provide accurate information about services we offer including, but not limited to: group exercise classes, personal training, and fitness related workshops
  • Be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures
  • Report any equipment/facility issues to the Coordinaor and/or Graduate Assistant as soon as possible
  • Perform other reasonably related duties assigned to you by the supervisor(s).

 Training:

  • Satisfactory completion of Weight and Fitness Room training workshops
  • Attendance at periodic staff in-services, workshops, and the like

 Pay Scale:

In accordance with the Department of Campus Recreation, and as a part-time student employee, Fitness Attendants will start at an hourly wage of $7.60/hour
