Biography

Dr. Luke Jones serves as the Director for Campus Recreation. His professional experience includes work in broadcasting, advertising, higher education, international education and non-profit management. His student affairs background consists of work in residence life, admissions, fraternities and sororities, campus involvement, and new student programs. Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, a Masters degree in Student Affairs, and a Bachelors degree in Communications from Washington State University. His research focus is on the intersection of undergraduate education and the development of meaning, purpose and community at public institutions of higher education.

    Biography

    Lisa has been working for Campus Recreation at Boise State since 2001. Her previous positions at Boise State were Assistant Director for Fitness and Associate Director. Before joining the Campus Recreation staff, Lisa worked as the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness at Purdue University in Layfayette, Indiana. As Senior Associate Director, Lisa oversees a variety of program and service areas within the department and works with her staff to ensure a high degree of quality and customer service for student, patrons, clients, and guests.

      Biography

      Jared joined the Campus Recreation staff in 2008. He serves as the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports working with intramural and club sports. Before joining the department, he completed a two-year graduate assistantship with Recreation Services at Illinois State University while also achieving his master's degree in Recreation Administration. He obtained his bachelor's degree in leisure, youth, and human services from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006.

      Biography

      Jason joined Campus Recreation in 2016 as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.  Prior to joining Boise State, Jason was the Facility Operations Coordinator at Utah State University where he managed their Campus Recreation Facilities and also had an opportunity to work on the planning, design, and construction of a new $30 million Rec Center.  Jason holds a B.S. in International Business and a B.S. in Finance from Marquette University and an M.Ed in Sport Management from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.  In his spare time, Jason loves to stay active through mountain and road biking, weight lifting, yoga, and golfing.

        Biography

        Rodo joined Campus Recreation at Boise State University in January of 2014.He oversees the Outdoor Program that encompasses the Equipment Rental,Climbing Gym, and Adventure Trips areas. He has developed his professional career in the Outdoor and Experiential Education field for the last 20 years in a myriad of cultural settings. Before arriving to Boise, Rodo worked as an Assistant Director of their respective Outdoor Adventure programs at University of Central Florida and Texas State University. He received a bachelor's of science in Physical Education from Instituto del Profesorado de Educacion Fisica "Juan B Alberdi" in Buenos Aires, Argentina and a master's of science in Recreation Administration from George Williams College of Aurora University in Wisconsin

          Biography

          Abby is the Coordinator for Fitness and is an ACE certified group fitness instructor. She completed her bachelor's at the University of Idaho with a degree in Exercise Science and Health. Abby has been a fitness and dance instructor for over 5 years and is pursuing a masters in health science with an emphasis in health promotion. She will oversee the group fitness instructors, personal training staff, staff trainings and scheduling and oversee any fitness related special events.

          Biography

          Amanda is a Boise Native and fellow Bronco. Her time at Boise State taught her the value of complementing the classroom experience with outside-classroom involvements, such as being an Orientation Leader or Sorority woman. She left Boise to pursue her Masters in Higher Education and Students Affairs at Indiana University. She was then a Hall Director at the University of New Hampshire and returned to Boise to join Campus Recreation in 2016. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, and learning a new ballroom dance move. Amanda’s passion is helping college students explore their own identities and stories.

          Biography

          Derek joined Campus Recreation in 2016 as the Coordinator of Outdoor Programs.  He works with the Assistant Director of Outdoor Programs to oversee Equipment Rentals, the Climbing Gym, and Adventure Trips.  Prior to Boise State, Derek managed outdoor programs at Cal Poly State University, Northern Arizona University, and Luke Air Force Base.  Derek holds a B.S. in Parks and Recreation from Northern Arizona University with an emphasis in Outdoor Education and Leadership.  He loves working with students who share the same passion for introducing others to outdoor recreation and the many benefits of playing outside.  When not working, Derek enjoys anything that gets him outside, spending time with family, and traveling the world.

          Biography

          Gabe began working with Campus Recreation in 2014 as the Coordinator for the Cycle Learning Center. For the past two decades his involvement with bicycles ranges from exploring North America by bike, racing cross-country, leading guided trips and working as a professional mechanic. Gabe earned a bachelor degree in Human Ecology and a teacher certification in Secondary Education from College of the Atlantic in Maine -- blending his passion for outdoor activity, teaching and health. At the Cycle Learning Center, Gabe leads a team of student employees who strive to provide the BSU community with excellent bicycle service, knowledge, facilitation and advice to keep people pedaling.

            Biography

            Kelsey joined Campus Recreation in 2016 as the Coordinator, Aquatics and Safety. Kelsey has worked in a variety of recreation facilities and aquatic centers, most recently with the Montrose Recreation District and the Wall Aquatic Center at Northern Arizona University. Kelsey holds a B.A. in Religious Studies with a Minor in Theatre from Santa Clara University and M.Ed in Educational Leadership for Community College and Higher Education from Northern Arizona University. In her spare time Kelsey enjoys playing water polo, swimming, teaching swim lessons, baking, and spending time with her family.

            Biography

            Candace started at Boise State September 2016.  She is an Idaho native born and raised in Moscow.  Candace worked at the University of Idaho for 13 years In the College of Agriculture State 4-H Office, Development Office and ASUI Office as well as many years in the customer service industry.  Candace has been in Boise for two years and enjoys riding her bike, tent camping, walking all over the foothills and downtown Boise with her dog Boo Radley.

              Biography

              Linda joined the Rec staff in 2004 as a financial tech. She has been serving as the accountant since 2006 and is responsible for daily reconciliation of cash, invoicing, accounts payable, budgeting, and financials for club sports. Prior to joining the team at Boise State University, Linda worked as an accountant in the private sector for 15 years. She also spent 4 years teaching vocational office practice classes for Dinuba Public Schools in California.

              Biography

              Brandon was born and raised on a family farm in northeastern Colorado and earned his Bachelors in Accounting, Finance, and Real Estate from Colorado State University. While at Colorado State Brandon caught the bug of officiating and campus recreation first as an official and then working in facilities and sport clubs. After working at a bank for a year, Brandon realized his true passion was in working with students in the campus recreation environment.  Off the clock you’ll catch Brandon with friends, hunting, taking in sporting events or officiating local sports.

              Biography

              Mark is a Graduate Assistant for the Fitness Program as he pursues a Master's in Kinesiology.  Mark assists Abby McElligott with the development of the staff and programs in the areas of group exercise and personal training.  Mark is a native of New Jersey and received his undergraduate degree from Rowan University in Health and Exercise Science.  Last year, his travels brought him to Florida for a year long internship in exercise and health at XXX university.  Mark enjoys snowboarding, playing football, wrestling, weight lifting, watching documentaries and cooking.  If you hear "Let's Go Giants" from the fitness office, that's Mark!

              Dave, a native of Montana, has lived in the Boise area since 2001 and joined the Campus Recreation staff in July of 2010. Dave has interests in art and music, is married with four children and three grandchildren.

              Biography

              Paivi has been working at Campus Recreation for three years and started as a part time student employee.  She moved to full time early in 2015 and continues to pursue her bachelor's degree in English with a writing emphasis.  Paivi likes working for the Rec because it provides a positive structure not only  for her job but for her life as well.  She enjoys keeping the rec clean and well maintained for the students and members so they can enjoy their time here.  Paivi recently had a hip replacement and is excited to getting back on her snowboard with the Outdoor program and at Bogus Basin when the snow flies.
