Biography

Dr. Luke Jones serves as the Director for Campus Recreation and Assistant to the Vice President for Retention Initiatives. His professional experience includes work in broadcasting, advertising, higher education, international education and non-profit management. His student affairs background consists of work in residence life, admissions, fraternities and sororities, campus involvement, and new student programs. Dr. Jones teaches Design Thinking and leadership in the College of Innovation and Design and leads the division's "student-centered design team". Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, a master's degree in Student Affairs, and a bachelor's degree in Communications from Washington State University. His research focus is on the intersection of undergraduate education and the development of meaning, purpose, and community at public institutions of higher education.

Biography

Jason joined Campus Recreation in 2016 as the Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.  Prior to joining Boise State University, Jason was the Facility Operations Coordinator at Utah State University where he managed their Campus Recreation Facilities and also had an opportunity to work on the planning, design, and construction of a new $30 million Recreation Center.  Jason holds a B.S. in International Business and a B.S. in Finance from Marquette University and an M.Ed in Sport Management from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.  In his spare time, Jason likes to stay active through mountain and road biking, weight lifting, yoga, and golfing.

Biography

Jared joined the Campus Recreation staff in 2008. He serves as the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports working with intramural and club sports. Before joining the department, he completed a two-year graduate assistantship with Recreation Services at Illinois State University while also achieving his master's degree in Recreation Administration. He obtained his bachelor's degree in leisure, youth, and human services from the University of Northern Iowa in 2006.

Biography

Rodo joined Campus Recreation at Boise State University in January of 2014. He oversees the Outdoor Program that encompasses the Equipment Rental, Climbing Gym, and Adventure Trips areas. He has developed his professional career in the Outdoor and Experiential Education field for the last 20 years in a myriad of cultural settings. Before arriving to Boise, Rodo worked as an Assistant Director of their respective Outdoor Adventure programs at University of Central Florida and Texas State University. He received a bachelor's of science in Physical Education from Instituto del Profesorado de Educacion Fisica "Juan B Alberdi" in Buenos Aires, Argentina and a master's of science in Recreation Administration from George Williams College of Aurora University in Wisconsin.

Biography

Amanda is a Boise native and fellow Bronco. Her time at Boise State University taught her the value of complementing the classroom experience with outside classroom involvements, such as being an Orientation Leader or Sorority woman. She left Boise to pursue her Masters in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University. She was a Hall Director at the University of New Hampshire and returned to Boise to join Campus Recreation in 2016. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, and learning a new ballroom dance move. Amanda’s passion is helping college students explore their own identities and stories.

Biography

Daniel has been working in Campus Recreation since July 2017. Before moving to Idaho, Daniel graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master's degree in Adult and Higher Education with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration where he was the Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports. He has a B.S. in Recreation from Emporia State University.

Biography

Gabe began working with Campus Recreation in 2014 as the Coordinator for the Cycle Learning Center. For the past two decades his involvement with bicycles range from exploring North America by bike, racing cross-country, leading guided trips and working as a professional mechanic. Gabe earned a bachelor's degree in Human Ecology and a teacher certification in Secondary Education from College of the Atlantic in Maine - blending his passion for outdoor activity, teaching and health. At the Cycle Learning Center, Gabe leads a team of student employees who strive to provide the Boise State University community with excellent bicycle service, knowledge, facilitation and advice to keep people pedaling.

Biography

Jordan has been working in Campus Recreation since May 2017. He graduated in 2010 from Cal State University, Chico with a BA in Outdoor Education, where he was a manager and trip leader of the Adventure Outings Program. Since graduating, Jordan has been teaching outdoor and leadership skills with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) as a River and Winter Instructor.  Jordan's previous employment includes time spent as a raft guide, whitewater kayak instructor and on ski patrol. At the Outdoor Program, Jordan trains and mentors student employees to be competent in risk management, leadership, outdoor skills, and building a strong community.

Biography

Kelsey joined Campus Recreation in 2016 as the Coordinator, Aquatics and Safety. Kelsey has worked in a variety of recreation facilities and aquatic centers, most recently with the Montrose Recreation District and the Wall Aquatic Center at Northern Arizona University. Kelsey holds a B.A. in Religious Studies with a Minor in Theatre from Santa Clara University and M.Ed in Educational Leadership for Community College and Higher Education from Northern Arizona University. In her spare time Kelsey enjoys playing water polo, swimming, teaching swim lessons, baking, and spending time with her family.

Biography

Mark began at Campus Recreation as a Graduate Assistant for the Fitness Program and is now the Fitness Coordinator.  Mark is a native of New Jersey and received his undergraduate degree from Rowan University in Health and Exercise Science.  After Rowan University, his travels brought him to Florida for a year long internship in exercise and health at Embry-Riddle University.  Mark enjoys snowboarding, playing football, wrestling, weight lifting, watching documentaries and cooking.  If you hear "Let's Go Giants" from the fitness office, that's Mark!

Biography

Candace started at Boise State University September 2016.  She is an Idaho native born and raised in Moscow.  Candace worked at the University of Idaho for 13 years in the College of Agriculture State 4-H Office, Development Office and ASUI Office as well as many years in the customer service industry.  Candace has lived in Boise since 2014 and enjoys riding her bike, tent camping, and walking downtown Boise with her dog Boo Radley.

Biography

Jason is a retired United States Air Force veteran who faithfully served on active duty for 22 years.  During that time he earned his bachelor's degree in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.  Jason was stationed all over the world with tours in Germany, England, Afghanistan, Denmark, Kyrgyzstan and here in the U.S in North Dakota, Washington and Idaho.  Jason has been working at Boise State University since 2016, previously working in the College of Education.

Biography

Linda joined the Boise State University Campus Recreation staff in 2004 as a financial technician. She has been serving as the Accountant since 2006 and is responsible for daily reconciliation of cash, invoicing, accounts payable, budgeting, and financials for club sports. Prior to joining the team at Boise State University, Linda worked as an Accountant in the private sector for 15 years. She also spent four years teaching vocational office practice classes for Dinuba Public Schools in California.

Biography

Brad is the Graduate Assistant for Fitness. He assists Mark in the management of the personal training and group fitness programs while simultaneously pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration. Prior to joining the Boise State team, Brad worked at the University of Oregon as a personal trainer and fitness instructor while attaining his bachelor’s in Human Physiology. After graduating from UO, he also served as their Fitness Coordinator for a year. Brad hails from Bend, Oregon and enjoys everything a central Oregonian would; hiking, bouldering, craft breweries, and running. He is also an avid NBA fan – GO BULLS!

Biography

Brenda has been working at Campus Recreation since 2014. She began as a custodian and over the course of employment worked different areas. Brenda settled in at the Outdoor Program where she made her place around some really amazing people. She graduated in May 2017, with degrees in Criminal Justice and Psychology, and is now pursuing a Master’s in Criminal Justice. Her goal is to become a victim’s advocate and one day influence victim’s rights.

Biography

Paivi has been working at Campus Recreation full time since 2015 and continues to pursue a bachelor's degree in English with a writing emphasis.  Paivi likes working for Campus Recreation because it provides a positive structure not only for her job, but for her life as well.  She enjoys keeping the Campus Recreation building clean and well maintained for the students and members so they can enjoy their time here.  Paivi had a hip replacement and is excited to be getting back on her snowboard with the Outdoor Program and at Bogus Basin.
