Pool Workouts Provide Killer Results
Boise State University students looking for a way to start a workout or expand their current routine should consider the pool. Pool workouts are often associated with old ladies splashing around in the water, which is a terrible cliche. Working out in the pool is gentle on the joints, but did you know you can also burn major calories in the water? So many calories you’ll break a sweat. When aiming for fitness results, it only makes sense to hit the water to shed the extra inches.
Done correctly, exercising in the pool will give you a full body workout. It’s skiing, cross country, running in sand, aerial jacks, and weight lifting in one. While swimming laps is great for the body, doing an Aqua Fit class covers both cardio and strength training, all within an hour. The water makes it easy to increase and decrease resistance and speed in seconds. It’s a workout unlike any other.
If the promise of an awesome workout hasn’t convinced you to jump in, don’t forget the pool area also features a hot tub. Dipping in the hot tub after working your body warms you up and relaxes your muscles. Did we mention how good it feels? We probably don’t have to.

Proper swim attire is required for all pool activities; please no shorts or t-shirts. Two piece bathing suits are fine and if you have long hair, please pull it up or wear a swim cap.
