  • EQ Desk Attendant

    WAGE RATE: $7.25 per hour
    SUPERVISOR: Coordinator, Facilities Operations 
    JOB FUNCTION: This position will be responsible in two areas of the facility; Equipment Desk and Front Desk. 
    HOURS: Semester 9- 20 hours, Required to work either Thanksgiving Break or Spring Break. Winter and Summer Breaks are up to the student. 
    DURATION: Minimum 1-year commitment

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Customer Service

    • Greet and establish rapport with individuals or groups who use the facility, and respond to their needs in a prompt and courteous manner.
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and serve as the primary source of information of all Campus Recreation Programs, Services, and Facilities.
    • Serve as a brand ambassador for Campus Recreation to help increase program awareness and promote a caring, inclusive environment.
    • Maintain the standards set forth in the Customer Service Training, while demonstrating an enthusiasm for enhancing the overall guest experience.

    Recreation Operations

    • Handle all point-of-sale transactions, including facility memberships, locker and equipment rentals, towel service, and all other retail transactions.
    • Manage conflict by firmly and respectfully upholding Campus Recreation policies and resolving operational incidents and guest concerns.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in Campus Recreation software programs including Rec Trac and When to Work.
    • Maintain a collaborative relationship with Facility Supervisors by communicating and remaining current on all relevant operational information.
    • Promptly responding to emergency situations and assisting the Facility Managers in administering appropriate care and/or calling Emergency Medical Services as needed.
    • Understand all emergency procedures in the Emergency Action Plan including medical emergencies, building evacuations, utility outages, chemical and blood spills, severe weather, fire emergencies, etc.
    • Properly execute Cash Handling Procedures in all Campus Recreation cash areas.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Maintains collaborative relationships and open communication with all Campus Recreation Professional Staff members and all other Boise State University Departments.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Positive attitude and enthusiasm about working in a team environment.
    • Ability to adhere to proper cash management procedures, enforce policies, and be willing to promote Campus Recreation Programs and Services.
    • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, or ability to complete training within 2-4 weeks after hiring date.
    • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships and open communication with all Campus Recreation professional staff members and all other Boise State University Departments.
    • Ability to manage a significant workload in addition to the regular academic schedule.
    • Ability to attend mandatory trainings; Job Training, All-Rec Fall Training on August 15th and 16th and All-Facilities Training Sunday before Spring semester begins.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Passion for providing excellent customer experience.
    • Previous work experience in customer service or retail sales.
    • Previous experience in responding to emergency situations.
    • Previous work experience in facility or recreation operations.
      • *Campus Recreation provides this training to all employees at no charge.

  • Facility Supervisor

    WAGE RATE: $9.00 per hour
    SUPERVISOR: Coordinator, Facility Operations
    JOB FUNCTION: This position will be responsible for the daily operations of the Student Recreation Center and contribute to the overall supervision of Campus Recreation facilities and services. 
    HOURS: Semester 6 – 20 hours, Required to work either Thanksgiving Break or Spring Break. Winter and Summer Breaks are up to the student. 

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Customer Service

    • Greet and establish rapport with individuals or groups who use the facility, and respond to their needs in a prompt and courteous manner.
    • Uphold the standards set forth in the Customer Service Training.  Coaches other Facility Operations Team Members on customer service and membership service expectations.
    • Manage conflict by firmly and respectfully upholding Campus Recreation policies and resolving operational incidents and guest complaints. Explains, interprets, and enforces Campus Recreation facility rules policies to patrons.

    Recreation Operations

    • Opening  and closing the Student Recreation Center as well as supervising the day-to-day operations of the facility.
    • Support Facility Operations Team Members by demonstrating a willingness to coach and lead others in a variety of operational areas such as Equipment Check-In/Out, Membership Sales, Locker Sales, Rec Trac, Policy Enforcement, etc.
    • Maintain facility records including activity counts, accident reports, incident reports, and other membership records. Communicates guest incidents with the Facility Operations Coordinator and Operations and the Member Services Coordinator.
    • Coordinate the setup and tear down of equipment for Campus Recreation activities, drop-in recreation and other events. Coordinates room setups prior to scheduled facility reservations.
    • Contribute to the overall supervision of Campus Recreation facilities through daily facility walk-throughs. Communicate maintenance, custodial, and safety hazard concerns to the Facility Operations Coordinator or Assistant Director of Facility Operations promptly.

    Safety and Risk Management

    • Promptly responds to emergency situations and administers the appropriate level of care and/or calls Emergency Medical Services when necessary.
    • Acts as the primary resource of leadership and communication for Emergency Medical Services and student staff members during emergency situations.
    • Understands all emergency procedures in the Emergency Action Plan including medical emergencies, building evacuations, utility outages, chemical and blood spills, severe weather, fire emergencies, etc.

    Cash Handling

    • Supervise and execute Cash Handling Procedures in all Campus Recreation cash areas.
    •  Reconcile cash accounts for each program area prior to closing the facility by validating and verifying all cash counts and RecTrac reports.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Employed by Boise State Campus Recreation for at least one semester without a negative performance report on file during the applying semester
    • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification or ability to complete training within two weeks after hiring date
    • Experience working with RecTrac Software and the ability to train student staff members on RecTrac software.
    • Ability to manage a significant work load in addition to the regular academic schedule.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous work experience supervising or managing staff members
    • Previous work experience in facility or recreation operations
    • Previous experience in coordinating emergency response

  • Facility Crew

    WAGE RATE: $7.75  per hour
    SUPERVISOR: Facility Foreman
    JOB FUNCTION: This position will be responsible for maintaining the overall appearance of the Student Recreation Center which includes housekeeping, light maintenance, and light snow removal. 

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Housekeeping

    • Performing routine housekeeping tasks on a daily basis including sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, sanitizing, and garbage removal.
    • The cleaning and light maintenance in office areas, locker rooms, restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, the weight room, fitness studios, and all other areas as assigned.
    • Inspecting, cleaning, and performing minor repairs on assigned custodial equipment and fitness equipment including cardio machines, strength machines, and free weights.
    • Properly handling and organizing custodial supplies. Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of chemicals and supplies for assigned areas.

    Building Operations

    • Attending all workplace safety meetings, wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and contributing to a safe work environment.
    • Assisting with pre and post cleaning for special events, assisting with the set-up and tear-down of equipment for special events, and assisting with all other event operations as needed.
    • Demonstrating an enthusiasm for enhancing the overall guest experience by providing clean, safe, and sanitary facilities.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Maintaining entrances and exits that are clear of snow, ice, and other inclement weather obstacles.
    • Recognize and report maintenance and safety issues to the Facility Foreman or Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Ability to work Day or Night Shifts.
    • Ability to work some weekends and extended hours on an as needed basis
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification or ability to complete training within two weeks after hiring date
    • Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous work experience in customer service, custodial operations, or maintenance background
    • Previous work experience in facility or recreation operations
