Welcome renters and prospective renters! Please find the below policies to answer many of your questions that you may have about renting equipment from the Outdoor Rental Center. We look forward to working with you soon.
The Rental Center has two rates, member and non-member. Members are anyone who is a full time student or has a current membership to the Student Recreation Center. To find out more about membership click here.
All prices are daily rates. The rental period begins at 3pm on the pick up date and ends at 6pm on the following business day. Any items picked up before 3pm and returned the next day by 6pm will be considered two days. You may also pick up before 3pm and return it the same day by 6pm for a one day rate.
Refunds and Transfers
For rafts, kayaks, and/or canoes a 100% refund will be issued if the cancellation is made 7-days prior to the start of the contracted rental period. A transfer of fees can be made if cancellation is made 4-days prior to the start of the contracted rental period. This transfer can be used for future rentals in the Outdoor Rental Center and will remain on your household as a credit.
For all other equipment a 100% refund will be issued if the cancellation is made 2-days prior to the start of the contracted rental period. No transfers will be made for other equipment is the contract is cancelled less than 2-days prior to the start of the contracted rental period.
Forms of Payment
Full payment is required at time of rentals and/or reservation for all equipment. Rental payments can be made with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or through a BSU-IDC.
All rentals are due by 6:00pm on the contracted return date. Equipment returned after 6:00pm on the due date will be charged a late fee equal to half the daily fee. Any rentals returned the day after the due date will be charged a late fee equal to half the daily fee, plus a compounding daily rate for the number of days equipment is past due. All charges are based on the time that the equipment is in Renter’s possession, whether it is in use or not.
Damaged or Lost Equipment
It is the renter’s responsibility to check for flaws, defects, and damage prior to accepting the equipment. At the request of the renter the rental staff will assemble and/or review equipment usage and condition at the time of rental pickup.
Please allow 30 minutes upon returning of equipment for staff to check over the equipment. Fees will be assessed by the staff for any equipment that is lost, stolen, dirty, damaged, and/or deemed unserviceable. Damaged equipment fees may be reassessed by management up to five business days after return. The renter is responsible for paying the fees assessed by the staff.
Any fees left unpaid for more than 20 business days will result in a registration hold place on a BSU student’s transcript. Non-students will be turned into a collection agency and the renter will be responsible for all collection fees.
Equipment may be reserved up to six months in advance. Reservations may only be made in person by paying 100% of the total fee due at the time of the reservation. If you are calling from out of town please call us at 208-426-1946 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
